KARA’s leader Park Gyuri will be making her musical debut with “200 Pounds Beauty“ this fall!
Kara’s agency DSP Media announced on June 15th that Park Gyuri will begin cast as Kang Han Byul who is the main character for “200 Pounds Beauty.” This will be first try from Kara’s Park Gyuri at a musical.
Park Gyuri has been cast for the lead role of ‘Kang Han Byul’ and also will be joining the cast of The musical “200 Pounds Beauty” on this October in Osaka Japan, and also show around Asia including Seoul. During the Asia tour for Japan and Korea’s Seoul Show she will display her singing and acting skills.
The musical is based on the film of the same name “200 Pounds Beauty” opened in 2008 and it was very popular selling an average of 1500 tickets per day. In 2008 the musical received an award as “Best Created Musical,” also totaling four nominations.
For those unfamiliar with the plot, Gyuri will be playing an overweight woman who possesses amazing vocal talent. Due to her physical appearance, however, she is forced to hide herself and sing as a substitute for other prettier artists. Determined to live her own life, she goes under the knife to fix her entire body, and becomes ‘reborn’ as a beautiful new person.
